About

Hey! I’m Carrera, the “Military Money Mom”. Military life is not for the weak, and anyone who has had any experience with the military knows this is a fact. Whether you have personally served in the armed forces, are a military spouse or significant other of someone serving, or were fortunate enough to be born into the military lifestyle as a kid, you have seen the challenges first-hand.

The American Dream

My story is a simple one–I believe in the American dream, and that is what brought me to where I am today. What exactly is the “American Dream” you might ask?

Well, it’s different for everyone, but that is what I consider the beauty of it. For me, the dream is the opportunity I have had in going to college debt-free through an ROTC scholarship, commissioning as an officer in the United States Air Force, cash-flowing my Master’s degree, supporting my husband in his pursuit of becoming a military chaplain, and ultimately, creating a better life for our children.

While the military can be incredibly challenging, I also understand that I would not have been able to build this life if it were not for the opportunities provided to me by the Air Force.

Not only am I grateful for what I have been able to accomplish, but I believe in the American values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is because of the opportunities I have in this country that I also feel the strong need to continue serving and defending it.

Financial Coaching

There is also something that has been on my heart throughout my military experience–helping others to not only adjust to military life, but also thrive in living out their faith, family, finances and career.

Through this, I also serve as a financial coach and counselor by helping families develop a personalized plan to achieve their financial goals and take money stressors out of the equation.

Get Involved

So here we are! I want to help impart some wisdom, share some great experiences, and offer advice on how others can also work to make a better life for themselves and their loved ones.

Whether you are currently serving, are a spouse or significant other, a mom, dad, friend, or are just interested in learning about military life–read on! Learn a thing or two on how to deal with everything from managing finances to pursing higher education, how to make a game plan for moving and getting connected to others in a new place, and so much more.

This is a group effort, and I would love to hear your thoughts, comments, and suggestions for new posts along the way.

Military life is hard–but you are not alone. Thank you for your service.
